Fratelli Navarra Foundation

The Fondazione per l'Agricoltura F.lli Navarra (Foundation for Agriculture F.lli Navarra) is a non-profit organisation that originated with the brothers Gustavo and Severino Navarra, large landowners from Gualdo, in the province of Ferrara, Italy. These brothers lived in the late 19th and early 20th century. Their vision was to establish a School of Practical Agriculture to promote experimentation and popularisation in the agricultural sector.
The Foundation's assets consist of approximately 700 hectares of cultivated land and urban and rural properties, distributed in various estates in the province of Ferrara. The company's policy is to grant third parties the management of a large part of this patrimony, guaranteeing the institution economic resources for self-financing projects consistent with its institutional aims. The Villa Navarra, after appropriate renovation, is now the headquarters of the Foundation itself, as well as housing Beta Italia (a private company for research and experimentation in beet growing), the AgriUnife and the Science Park.
The Fratelli Navarra Foundation is also involved in the renovation of rural buildings to create accommodation facilities and lodgings for protected categories, thus contributing to the development of the territory and the economic valorisation of the properties. In addition, the Foundation's historical headquarters in Via Cortevecchia, opposite Ferrara Cathedral, has also been renovated and used as offices. The Navarra villa in Gualdo, the birth house of the Navarra brothers, is currently awaiting renovation.
